Umpires/officials are essential to creating a fair and structured match or race.
* Think about the type of activities you have enjoyed in the past. Are they water based? Running? Ball sports?
* Do you have a previous umpire/official accreditation? Are you keen to be involved in the same sport, or another sport?
* Consider the role you’d like to play:

* Consider completing the online and free Community Officiating General Principles Course (https://www.sportaus.gov.au/coaches_and_officials/officials) to build the basic skills you will need to be an umpire/official in any sport.

Community sport and active recreation functions on the generosity and dedication of volunteers. Being involved in your local club can help you to feel connected to your community, meet new people and contribute to a sense of belonging.
Volunteers don’t always have to be Committee Members. It may be as simple as joining the roster for the club canteen once a month, or helping to set-up or pack-up equipment.
* Think about your skills and what you enjoy doing.
* Consider the time you have to volunteer each week or month. Do you want a re-occurring role, or to help with a one-off activity?
* Do you have/willing to obtain:
Working with Children Check (Victoria) or equivalent check from other States/Territories
Police check (where applicable)
